I have made up a lullaby that the girls love for me to sing to them each night as they go to bed.  It is adapted from the song “My Someone” from "The Music Man".  It is actually “our song” for Chris and I as we attended a performance of "The Music Man" at Sundance when we were engaged and loved the song.  We both have “My Someone” engraved on our wedding bands.  Anyway, the song for the girls always seems to have a calming effect on them as I prepare to leave their room for the night.

Goodnight my someones
Goodnight my loves
Goodnight sweet angels
From up above
Sleep tight sweet Misha
Sleep tight sweet Amy
Goodnight, Goodnight, Goodnight

The second verse (as there always has to be two) is a slight variation with Amy’s name coming first.  A couple nights ago, Amy said to me, “You are the bestest singer in all of the world!”  They have memorized the words now and often sing along with me.  Last night as I came home from a meeting, I went into the girls’ room to check on them, and Misha was still awake.  I sat on the edge of the bed to sing to her and she started to sing with me.  I had Chris come listen to the second verse because it was so precious.  There are moments when my heart warms with the realization that I am raising and caring for “angels from up above”.
