It is amazing that almost 6 weeks have passed since Alicia’s birth; she is a joy to have in our home. That’s definitely appreciated right now since Amy has been catapulted into so many changes and is showing a little wear–as we all are. She is well into the “terrible twos” and some days I am so exasperated with her. I keep telling myself that this behavior is normal for someone her age, but it doesn’t make it any easier to deal with and to be patient with. Ah, patience. I pray for more of it everyday especially as I look down at the crayon markings all over the front of Chris’ hard drive.
Amy calls me Jo but also calls me mommy every once in awhile and points to me when Chris asks her who mommy is. She has gotten into the habit of waking up early so we are letting her cry herself back to sleep. This morning was no different and after her first initial cries she started into “Jo! Jo! Joooooooooo! Joooooooo!” with all of the necessary inflections. She did stop crying, and I thought she had gone back to sleep, but when I got up to go to the bathroom, she was quick to let me know she was still awake. Amy likes to be independent; we live on the third floor and she has to walk up and down the stairs all by herself. She is quite good at it, but I still worry that she’ll fall. We tell her that she has to hold our hands in parking lots because of the cars but she refuses unless she actually sees one coming toward her.
