We are a month into summer vacation for the girls and all of us are surviving so far.  I really enjoy not driving back and forth to the school everyday, and it is kind of nice not having to push someone to get dressed, eat breakfast, and be ready to leave at a certain time.  The girls are keeping busy with the library program on Tuesday, swimming lessons on Wednesday, and park day on Thursday.  I could probably find things to schedule on Monday and Friday, but I kind of like the break it gives me.

A couple of weeks ago was such an awful week.  I was using my treadmill, just cooling down, when all of a sudden one of Misha’s balls was right at my feet.  I had been holding on to the bar fortunately or I might have fallen off and broken my leg.  I couldn’t figure out what happened since Misha was standing at the back of the treadmill.  I thought she had just thrown the ball at my feet.  I had to call a treadmill repairman to come and look (a $100 charge just to show up) and come to find out, she had put the ball under the treadmill belt.  The ball was just the right size to catch the belt, be drawn up to the front of the treadmill and totally ruin the circuit board.  Then because of the speed and friction of the belt it was squished out through a 3/8" space at the front of the treadmill by me feet.  And that’s why all of a sudden I was tripping over it.  That totaled up to a $500 repair bill.

Then later that Tuesday evening I had an appointment at the church.  I was released from working in the library and asked to be a Primary teacher.  Not my favorite thing.

I thought I was being so industrious on Monday of that week by cleaning out both of our freezers.  Sadly on Thursday when Chris was getting a burrito out of the freezer and noticed that it was already thawed, we realized that I had forgotten to turn the big upright freezer back on.  I threw out a lot of food and then we purchased more for about $150.  What a frustrating week.

Chris and I left for the temple on Friday night after work and got stuck in rush hour traffic.  We made it but not without more complications.  I knew that we needed to be there, but our week was pretty discouraging, and I think Satan must have wanted us to just give up.

On a lighter note, I was walking down an aisle in Lowes with Misha when she started talking crazy.  She said, “When I was little, I used to live at Lowes and you came and adopted me and I became part of the Kline family.”  What?  I had only been kind of listening and asked her to repeat herself.  She said the same thing again...silly girl.  I told her no, that she was born into our family and I had the scars to prove it.  She said, “I know I was just joking you.”

Kristen doesn’t seem to care much for walking.  Sometimes she’ll venture a few steps between Chris and I, but more often that not lately, she’ll just relax her legs and sit down.  She won’t stiffen them back up for anything.  She’ll be a late walker like Amy.

Chris likes to call Kristen our little velocoraptor.  She gets into more and more things all the time.  She likes to wander, sneak, whatever into the bathroom and swish her little fingers in the potty.  Not good when I have at least one child who doesn’t often remember to flush the potty.  We have to keep the lids down because keeping the door closed is no longer a barrier.  With the type of doorknob we have, she has just this week been able to reach up on her tiptoes, grab onto the handle, and open the door.  She thinks it is a great game.  But then, she also likes to climb the stairs up to our bedroom where Chris is working during the day, open the door, and go in and bug him by grabbing the computer mouse.  She used to only be able to stand at his door and knock now she just goes right in.

Amy is doing really well in her swimming lessons.  She continues to progress and learn more.  In water where she is tall enough to stand with her head above water, she is safe to no longer wear a life jacket.  Misha is doing well also.  She is not so keen to putting her face in the water, but now she will if her teacher reminds her to, but it doesn’t stay under long.

Chris continues to keep long hours.  IBM gets a good deal out of him.  He gets working on a project and often continues working until well after midnight because he doesn’t want to lose his train of thought.  Since he works in our room, I go sleep in the guest room until he is done.  Not ideal, but for now it is cheaper than finishing the basement.
