Monday was your first birthday.  I looked at you often throughout the day remembering your first days of life and how much you have changed since then.  You have such a sweet personality and are truly a joy to have in our home.

We had a birthday party for you and lots of cousins and aunts and uncles came–Kings, Brad, Kevin and Candace, Lori, and Becky.  I made a tiny cake with white frosting for you to eat.  You didn’t quite get the idea of blowing out the candle but wasted no time in putting your fingers in the cake.  However, just as soon as you got cake all over your hands, you lifted them up to me to clean them.  You knew that it just wasn’t right for you to be so dirty.  Everybody else had their cake and ice cream, and then we opened presents.  Aunt Lori had to leave for the airport so we  hurried to open presents.  You got a fun light-up musical turtle, a doll, a dress, bibs, lots of stuffed animals, clothes, tub toys and daddy bought you an Elmo balloon.  You loved all of the attention but were more than ready to go to bed after everyone left.

We both go to the doctor’s today–you for a one year check-up with shots, sad to say, and me for my first prenatal checkup.  We should be able to hear the baby’s heartbeat today, though I doubt that it will mean all that much to you.
