Wow! It has been a long time since I wrote, but I am happy to say that positive things have happened within the past month. I confronted those in the company with decision-making
ability and suggested that they consider me for a position as Order Processing Manager instead of as the receptionist. It was temporarily being filled by the administrative assistant to the president. With this position, I would still be able to keep my previous wage as well as my benefits.
Well, they gave me a chance. And now I have been in the Order Processing Manager position for about three weeks and feel that I am doing a great job. I am still learning but that comes with
most any job of this magnitude. Basically I am responsible for four different areas: Data Entry, the Mail room, Research, and the Receptionist. In the past couple of weeks, I have conducted performance reviews, hired three people and taken care of problems as they occur. I suppose I had some reservations as to my abilities when I came into the position, but I do enjoy it a lot now and my staff seems to respond well to my direction.
